The City of Berkeley is seeking to fill the position of Code Enforcement Inspector, focusing on neighborhood preservation. Qualified applicants must be detail oriented code professionals, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: exterior residential and commercial buildings, and re-occupancy inspections, property maintenance enforcement, issuance of building permits, record maintenance. Must have the ability to prepare cases for court and testify when needed.
This is a full time position, Monday–Friday, with some Saturdays, during normal working hours. Benefits provided by the City includes paid vacation and sick leave, life, medical and dental insurance, 10 paid holidays and retirement plan.
EXPERIENCE: Three to five years solid experience in code enforcement and building inspections for compliance. Must be community orientated.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
A high school Diploma, two years post-secondary college or technical instruction. An Associate’s degree is highly desirable. ICC certifications in Property Maintenance, Zoning and Residential Inspector required; or must be able to obtain within one-year of employment.
